When the center does not hold
Last Thursday the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the Fisher case that the University of Texas could continue to discriminate on the basis of race because “diversity” is an essential aspect of education. And on Wednesday of last week, the U.S. House of Representatives was disrupted by Members of the House who conducted a sit-in.
The response of the House majority and a majority of Justices on the Supreme Court of the United States was to affirm that the center of our political culture can no longer be maintained. This is sometimes called “loss of nerve,” and when a people lose their nerve they should prepare to fight for the very survival of their country and way of life.
Fortunately we still have some fighters for order, justice, and the American way, and the National Association of Scholars is one of them.
