Kasich for Secretary of State

August 7, 2016

An interview  by Jake Tapper on CNN with Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, revealed an aspect of Gov. Kasich’s politics that were well hidden during the recent campaign for the GOP nomination. I was reminded while viewing this interview that last year three former Reagan administration officials in the field of foreign policy briefed Gov. Kasich. At the time I thought they were wasting their time since Kasich’s domestic policies place him deep in the “moderate” column of Republicans and 2016 was not a year for moderates.

Now I realize why former National Security Advisor, Richard V. Allen, former Secretary of the Navy, Dr. John Lehman and former Undersecretary of State for Security Policy, Dr. William Schneider, took time to brief Governor Kasich. Based on this interview on CNN, Kasich is very good on national security policy.

That is an interesting anecdote but for the fact that the election of 2016 can be won by the Republican nominee, if the Internationalist wing of the GOP represented by G. W. H. Bush, George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan forget the personal slights that Donald Trump inflicted on them and agree to advance their own interests by advancing the candidacy of Donald Trump.

Is it not better for the Internationalists, the Trump elements, traditional conservatives, Christian voters and economic conservatives in the GOP to work together to defeat the Democrat candidate? If so, then take a look at this interview with Gov. Kasich on CNN and ask if Donald Trump should announce that he will nominate John Kasich for Secretary of State.
