Governor-Elect Northam’s Tax Increases
At one time, Virginia was a better domicile than the District of Columbia or Maryland. With the growth of the federal government, the northern suburbs have become Democrat Party strongholds.
The last Republican Governor, Bob McDonnell, showed a great deal of promise when he first entered politics, but he joined the GOP Establishment and increased taxes.
He was followed by Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001 to 2005, co-chairman of President Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign, and chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.
