A Nation at Risk
May 13, 2018
This year is the 35th anniversary of A Nation at Risk, a critical examination of K-12 education in the United States. The second paragraph of the report particularly hit home:
“If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves.”
This month, four of my colleagues and I will complete the editing of a sequel to the 1983 study. The sequel focuses on the crisis in American higher education. If you would like a review copy of this study when prepared for publication, please send a request to academydl@gmail.com.
