Not a Dime More!
We know that California is marbled with geologic “faults” and as the population grew Californian’s knowingly built homes along fault lines. Two days ago an earthquake occurred near Ridgecrest and Trona in the Mojave desert and caused what is estimated at $1 billion in damages. The first thing the Governor of California did was ask for direct aid from the federal government.
I appreciate the concern we have for lives and property of everyone located in potential disaster areas. I live in an area eight feet above sea level that experiences hurricanes. If I’m hit by a hurricane above level 1 and winds in excess of 100 miles per hour, I can expect to lose my roof.
During the last 30 years, people wittingly built homes along the Eastern seacoast and along earthquake faults and expect the federal government to pay for them to rebuild.
Imagine if Los Angeles experienced quakes as large as those that hit these two communities.
It’s time to rethink that!
