Recovery of Congressional Supremacy
On October 17, 2019, Democrat House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer (D-MD), revealed why the United States Congress has been impotent in the face of growth of the Executive Branch into an Imperial Power:
“Today’s meeting with the President,” Hoyer said, “deteriorated into a diatribe. Never have I seen a President treat so disrespectfully a co-equal branch of the government.”
It is sad when a distinguished member of the Congress of the United States, with 38 years of Congressional service, reveals that he doesn’t understand that the Congress in which he holds major office is not coequal with other branches of the government of the United States.
The Congress is not coequal! The Congress of the United States is the supreme branch and empowered to govern even the President of the United States.
You can read about this in my October 22nd essay titled “The Myth of ‘Coequal’ Branches of the Federal Government” published at TheImaginativeConservative.
