A Long, Hot Summer and Winter

July 24, 2020

The 1958 feature film, The Long, Hot Summer, was based on three works by William Faulkner, and resonated that same year in the film, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Unless our AC dies, we don’t think about Summer heat. But this, the Summer of 2020, is going to be as hot as Hell.

President Trump is correct in statements he made that he occupies the White House because American voters had enough of politics under President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Donald Trump played on his celebrity and won a surprising victory in 2016. But as President, Trump’s antics caused the GOP to lose the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018 and, the GOP could lose the Senate in 2020.

Donald Trump fears that, if he loses, he will be indicted by prosecutors in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York.

His financial ties to oligarchs in Russia suggest that the Trump Organization engaged in very sophisticated money laundering and it is highly likely that the Trump Organization violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Add tax issues to the pot and we can understand why President Trump is likely to refuse to leave office, if the 2020 election victory by Joe Biden is narrow.

After Summer comes Fall and then Winter, but even in Winter 2021 American politics promises to be hot. Even if Civil War is averted, four to eight years of Democrat control of the Federal government will accelerate existing divisions in American society.

The Democrat Party, led by former President Barack Obama, will tear this country apart by inflaming racial anger and by prompting assertions such as those made by Cong. Ocasio-Cortez that America is a sexist country.

Those two campaigns, MeToo and Black Lives Matter will encourage Communist China and Iran to take advantage of our long, hot Summer and Winter.
