Lee Edwards–“Conservative”
Dr. Lee Edwards is one in a million leaders that “make” political movements. At every step in the growth of the Conservative movement from YAF to the monument to “Victims of Communism,” Lee Edwards was present. And along the way he wrote a book about Conservatism and earned a Ph.D. from Catholic University of America.
I was so impressed that I began to develop an online course on the history of conservatism that made Lee’s book, A Brief History of the Modern American Conservative Movement, required reading.
When I inquired, I was told that there were only two courses like it in all the colleges in America! One was taught by David Azerrad when he was at the Heritage Foundation. That descendants of Sephardic Jews, Irish Catholics and Armenian Christians care enough to write and teach courses on the Conservative Movements says a lot about “the Movement” and higher education in America.
Yesterday I learned that Lee’s monument to “Victims of Communism” will soon open a library in Washington, DC.
All the more reason that I should complete that course.
