The Kentucky Derby

The 147^th “Kentucky Derby” features a  large field of thoroughbred horses to race in this year’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 1.

Over the next three weeks I’ll comment on the Derby entries, their trainers and jockeys and my perspective as a “beader”—someone who watches how horses walk, stand in the stalls prior to a race and their running style.

In addition to these “looks,” I am believer in breeding (a horse’s sire and dam) and I’ll pick a winner based on breeding.

I’ll also dress for the occasion and may wear a special shirt and cap from MerryBlue!
