A Sense of Urgency

May 21, 2021

On Thursday, April 2nd, in preparation for a Zoom discussion with scholars who have written novels, Dr. Christopher Manion told me that the United States under a Biden Administration is “acting like a defeated and occupied nation.”

During my professional career, I have expressed my view that America was “on the wrong track” and, beginning in 1978, I began to publish scholarly books on such subjects in my field of political philosophy as “Public Philosophy,” the domination of American higher education by Progressives and about a community that formed what I called “the Conservative Rebellion.

I also founded a university based on Internet disseminated degree programs.

The best I can say is that “I tried,” and now I am fearful that civil society in our beloved country could collapse into civil war as we saw as occurred in Spain and Mexico.

On May 15 I invited several of my colleagues to participate in a Zoom discussion about civil unrest in America today that could possibly lead to civil war.

Next week a few of my colleagues and I who understand the depth of this problem will discuss some broad topics that need to be aired:

  1. Growth of the administrative state as a creator of divisions in civil society (Richard Bishirjian)
  2. Demise of Constitutional, limited, government, rise of an American empire and transition to a government of “ruler and ruled” from one consisting of “governor and governed.” (Angelo Codevilla)
  3. “Decline of the West”—decline in Christian faith and “the Church” (Christopher Manion)
  4. The course of American government from Eisenhower to Trump and the January 6 insurrection
  5. Elections in 2022 and 2024—critical or merely palliative?
  6. Civil war?

We encourage you to watch a video of these discussions that will be posted at this website. Look for an announcement at
