The GOP’s Bright Future–Without Trump

July 1, 2021

The picture of Donald Trump’s financial manager, Allan Weisselberg, as he walked into the Federal courthouse in Lower Manhattan at 6:20 am this morning reveals why the Trump organization is in deep Doo-Doo.

That Federal Courthouse even looks mean-spirited and after two or three hours within its confines, Allan Weisselberg will want OUT.

I could not bring myself to support Donald Trump for personal reasons related to my experience doing business in the very corrupt environs of Poland before and immediately after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Bribery was mandatory and attempting to buy government companies in process of being privatized placed you in danger of personal assaults or automobile collisions that were not accidental.

Yet the Trump organization thrived in Russia and Third World countries and even Turkey where Trump Administration policies were mixed with Trump organization business.

Candidates with character flaws as gross as those of Donald Trump are not elected to the Office of the President unless our Party system and the people elected to office had lost touch with national and international realities.

That was the case at the end of the Administration of George W. Bush. Every Republican President from Eisenhower to George W. Bush stood in the “Internationalist” tradition of democratic idealism until the election of 2016. Donald Trump caught a political wind of rejection of war to make the world “safe” for democracy and advocated something new and appealing—policies in the national interest.

All the more reason to abhor the glaring realization that Donald Trump and the Trump Organization were “dirty.”

I had no proof, but I suspected that Vladimir Putin had taped and taken compromising videos of Trump during his days pursuing his Miss Universe Pageant business in Moscow. If my suspicions are accurate, Cy Vance and New York Attorney General Letitia James will convict Allan Weisselberg on violations of New York tax law.  Failing that, then the Biden Justice Department will charge the Trump Organization with money laundering, bribery and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

That will knock the Trump family out of business—forever.

Will that derail the many good policies of the Trump Administration and especially his “nationalism.”

If we look to Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, the answer is “Yes.” They drank “W’s” Kool Aid and failed to see that Americans were tired of the “Democratic Project” of pursuing peace by going to war.

If we look for other potential winning candidates in 2024, we cannot miss the obvious standout of Florida’s Governor and the many women Governors in the GOP including Kristi Knoem of South Dakota, Kim Reynolds of Iowa and ex-Governors Mary Fallin of Oklahoma and Nikki Haley of South Carolina.

And don’t overlook a number of members of Congress including  Elise Stefanik of New York, Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma, New Mexico’s Yvette Herrell, Michelle Fischbash in Minnesota, Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida, Ashley Hinson in Iowa, in South Carolina, Nancy Mace and Lauren Boebert in Colorado.

That is clear evidence that the GOP has a great future.
