Nathan Hale Remembered

February 26, 2022

If you look closely at this statue of Nathan Hale at the entrance to the Chicago Tribune you see a rope around Hale’s neck. Hale spied on British troop movements, was arrested and executed on the morning of September 22, 1776 at 66th Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan, New York.

Hale was 21 years old.

If you consider what his loss meant to him, you realize how great was his desire for American independence, the very same desire we are witnessing in Ukraine.
